Philosophy

The human voice is the most unique instrument there is. Nothing has the power to move people and convey emotions more effectively. When teaching a voice student, regardless of age or experience, I consider all facets of that person's unique qualities and skills. My goals are to guide that person towards reaching their greatest potential. However, the voice must be trained with explicit attention to proper breath support, diction, vowel formation, and performance ability. A singer must train like the athlete they are, including exercises that will develop their ability to interpret any genre of music from pop to opera.

“Working with Jennifer as a voice coach has been a pure joy. Jennifer has an intuitive ability to know when to encourage, when to provide honest critique, and how to unlock a person’s vocal ability. As a professional opera singer, her understanding of the physiology of breath work and vocal technique is superb. I highly recommend Jennifer to anyone who is serious about improving or honing their vocal skills. Jennifer is also a kind, energetic, supportive, and all-around lovely person. Lessons are a weekly reward to myself!”

Jennifer and I used to perform together in operas years ago and recently she has become my voice teacher. I always admired Jennifer’s talent and devotion to music. In our lessons, she is able to covey her solid vocal training and technique no matter what music genre we are working in. Jennifer has helped me rebuild my vocal foundation and I’m enjoying our exploration of other musical styles.
